Father Tad on Al Jazeera

Father Tad Pacholczyk, PhD, who writes the monthly "Making Sense of Bioethics" column that appears in our paper and who gave a Herald lecture at Jack Quinn's Pub in September, was interviewed last month on Al Jazeera television as one of two sources to discuss the Vatican's recent bioethics statement and the relationship between religion and science. The other source identified herself as a "secular humanist" and atheist. Hmm... will they get along? Check it out...

Note on trying to access his past columns on our site... for best results, type "Pacholczyk" in the search box.

A proud moment for the diocese

(CNS photo/Alessia Giuliani, Catholic Press Photo)

As mentioned in an earlier post, Colorado Springs Diocese seminarian Jim Baron, who is studying at North American College in Rome, was selected to read the second reading during Midnight Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter's Basilica on Christmas Eve. Thanks to Paul Haring at Catholic News Service for getting his Vatican contact to snap a picture of this. You can see a larger version of the photo if you click on it.

Pope reminds that Catholic Church is the one, true Christian church

This will no doubt be criticized as "triumphalistic," but isn't part of being Catholic believing that your church holds the fullness of the faith? I would expect followers of other faiths to believe the same, so for the pope to remind Catholics that the Catholic Church is the one, true Christian church really shouldn't be news.

The Vatican text of the statement is here. Just scroll down to the English version.
