More movie talk
Another interesting note in that Christianity Today story, Sony Pictures is following up "The DaVinci Code" with "The Resuurection" (with "Left Behind" writer Tim LaHaye as a producer). Uh... nice try, Sony, but using millions of dollars made from a blasphemous book to finance a story on the Resurrection is not going to fly.
BTW, "The DaVinci Code" may not have been a huge hit in the states but international sales made it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. The movie cost $125 million plus marketing (estimated at between $50-$75 million). It made $215 million in the U.S., covering its costs. It added a whopping $521 million elsewhere around the world.
It currently sits at $736 million and 22nd place all-time worldwide. It should pass "The Matrix Reloaded" ($738.6 million) this weekend and is $8 million behind "The Chronicles of Narnia" for 20th place.
Where is "The Passion of the Christ?" In 30th place at $611.9 million.
